Baby, Can I Afford You? Dating On The Thrift.

Sure you want to impress your date but for crying out loud you don't want to take out a government loan to do it. No problem. With a little creativity, going on a date can be inexpensive and still a lot of fun.

Like what? Well…

The Theater

Most cities have local theater companies. You and your date could see a play at a fraction of the cost of the same play performed by a big time out of town production company.

For another type of theater, find one that shows second run movies. While they may show movies a little later then their original release date, ticket prices are very affordable and in some cases, cheaper than matinees

The Museum

Staying with the arts spend time in a museum talk to your date about the various pieces of artwork. Finding out what the other person likes or dislikes is a great way to learn more about them.

Cooking

This is an excellent way to spend quality time together. Plan your romantic dinner by talking it over then shopping for the ingredients you will need. As for the actual cooking, take your time preparing the meal. This allows the two of you to see how well you work together as a team.

The Park.

Enjoy the great outdoors with your date. You can walk around, bike ride, picnic or people watch. If the park has a lake, go ahead and rent a canoe or paddle boat. The fee is usually nominal.

A Coffee House

Price wise, springing for coffee and dessert is nothing compared to dinner for two at some expensive restaurant. And because of the relaxed atmosphere, a coffee house is a great place to chat uninterrupted and get to know your date.

Board Games

Choose a few games from your collection and challenge your date to some friendly competition  Not only are these games a lot of fun but they can also be an excellent way to get to know each other better  Playing games like scrabble  that require creativity instead of just luck gives you a chance to really show your date who you are.

You don't have to go broke trying to impress your date. Some of the thriftiest ideas can also be some of the best. The laid back atmosphere allows you and your date to be yourselves and enjoy more of your time together.
